I decided to start off this blog with the very first thing I did when I realized that getting more anxious than usual, which was asking Google what anxiety meant.
Anxiety: a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
OR
A nervous disorder characterized by a state of excessive uneasiness and apprehension, typically with compulsive behavior or panic attacks.
Tell you what the moment I hear or see the word disorder I just feel so scared I don’t know why, so it’s the second definition that bothered me so much. It made me feel sick, infact it increased my worries.
I feel like when you get anxious the last thing you need is to hear someone explain it with such magnitude, and I am pretty good at aggravating my situations at times. I have also learnt it’s what triggers my anxiety the most, when I think too much ,for example about how much money am making, I try to compare it to someone else’s which may in turn make me wakeup in the middle of the night trying to figure out what I can do to increase my income flow.
When this month begun, I decided to rebrand myself, I was going to be smart about time management, was going to improve the blog,was going to be more patient, all these lovely things. But one thing happened, and from there on I went downhill. On top of anxiety, i have a great luck of confidence.
On the bright side, I am learning to keep my anxiety on the low, I am going to share a with you how;
1. Realize and accept when you have Anxiety:
As easy as it my seem, it’s the part we all don’t like. That acknowledgement of something you consider abnormal, I think sometimes it makes us feel like we have failed at something, or just don’t fit in our lives. But acceptance makes it kinda tangible, you know what it is, so you can move forward with figuring out how to deal with it.
2. Meditation: I started doing yoga in 2013 in my dorm room following this one Yoga for beginners video from yoga by Adrian. At first it was good stretching and exercise for me but I remember being at work a few months ago and I remember the breathing exercises, I stopped what I was doing closed my eyes remember Mark 4:39 taking those deep breaths, breathing in the words of God’s love, how he calmed the storm. And the one ragging in me calmed down. I have used meditation whenever I find it hard to sleep. So try getting into meditation
3. Getting organized: I don’t know about you but for me when things around me are a mess so is my thinking. So I decided to buy a content planner, I downloaded a spending and savings app and finally make my to do list.
I have yet to start using my content planner but will definitely be giving an update on that after a few months. I make my to-do list the night before, that way I know exactly what you my day is going to look like. Sometimes I get too lazy to write one and I can notice how much crazier and scattered that day.
Managing my finances is absolutely important, luckily I have always had liked saving and spending wisely however, online shopping has become my arche enemy because I can’t help but spend on luxury when I see it. The downside to this though is, after a few says I realize I have not saved as I would like to then just get snxioia about not reaching a desired goal.
4. Friends and family: These have always been my foundation, family and friends means the world to me. Just coming home to them or talking to my friends on the phone makes everything better, it reminds me that I have people looking out for me, protecting me,cheering me on.
5. Time with God: Creator of the heavens and Earth, my deliveror, my comforter,father, friend, mother etc
This is perhaps the hardest one to grasp especially if you are not connected with the holy spirit in you, but also the most effective one for me because it eventually makes anxiety a non factor. See God made you, he knows the deepest most troubling thing in your heart, also has a great solution for it we just got to get to a place of trust with him.
6. Music: communicates to the soul, encouraging, soothing, loving music will definitely bring a peace of mind. Music captures moments, and feelings that are sometimes impossible to explain.
